- Binderless MDF boards- A project by S8 PE Students
A group of final year Production Engg Students comprising of Alwin Augustin, Jibin Joseph, Rahul Rajagopal, Vineet .N.Menon, Vysakh .K.G has invented Binderless MDF boards as a part of their academic project. The main objective of the project is to develop an improved production process for manufacturing medium and high density binderless fibre boards from Coconut husks. Presently, fibre boards are being manufactured from waste wood, baggasse, bamboo and other fibrous biological materials using phenol or melamine resins as the binding material. The fumes from the above resins used as binders, cause considerable environmental problems and have been found to be hazardous to human health. Therefore, fibre boards manufactured without the use of a synthetic binder as done in the present project has got wide potential ,as it is environmental friendly and does not cause any health hazards
