• World Environment Day (WED) Celebrations 2012

The Department of Computer Applications celebrated the World Environment Day this year   on 05, June 2012 by organizing a slide-show creation contest for the S2 MCA students of the Department. All the students were requested to submit a slideshow on the theme Greenifying Computing which could be construed as a sub theme of the main theme of this year's WED celebrations. The theme of this year's WED celebrations is "Green Economy: Does it include you?". The prize winners of the contest are

• Talk on“Stochastic Models”

ISTE VAST Chapter   organized a talk on “Stochastic Models” by Dr. S. Satheesh (Professor, Applied Science Dept) on 22, June 2012 in EEE Seminar Hall. Dr. K.B.M. Nambudiripad led the discussion.

1. Dr. Sasidharan Sreedharan (Professor, EEED) served as a resource person for the Professional Development program " Power system SCADA & Grid Station Operation and management" at AIT, Bangkok during 11-19, June 2012.

2. Mr. Nitin Padmanabhan (AP EEED) served as a technical expert member in the Career GuidanceProgram for prefinal year students at Mohandas College of Engineering Trivandrum on 09, June 2012.

3. A paper titled " Power Vectors to Identify Coalition Partners in Electricity Markets" submitted by Dr. Sudha Balagopalan, Mary P V, Neenu Thomas and Nitin Padmabhan was selected in the Seventh International conference on Industrial and Information System organized by the Dept of Electrical and Electronics , IIT Madras.

4. Ms. Deepa Mohan (Associate Professor, CE Dept) participated in the Faculty Development Programme on " Management Research Methodology" during 18-23, June 2012 organised by School of Management studies and Centre for Continuing Education, National Institute of Technology, Calicut, under MHRD and AICTE.

5. Dr. V.N Krishnachandran (Vice Principal and Head of Department of Computer Applications) organized a Half-Day Workshop on Google Sites for S2 MCA students of the Department. The Workshop was held in the After-Noon of 04 June 2012 in the Seminar Hall of the Department. In the Workshop, the students were introduced to the basics of creating a website using Google Sites.

6. Ms. Daisy P.K   (Assistant Professor, Dept. of Humanities) qualified at NET (National Eligibility Test) along with JRF (Junior Research Fellowship).

7. A western music awareness program conducted for the final year and pre-final year students of ECE department in the college auditorium on 22, June 2012 by Mr. Ashok. K. Natarajan (Asst. Professor of ECE Dept.)

8. The following members of faculty attended a written test and interview for getting admission to Ph. D and MS (By Research) under the approved research centre, Coimbatore at Anna University of Technology, Chennai on 21, June 2012.

1. Mr. Sumesh Sundar (S5 PE) secured First Prize in Freestyle Dance competition held as a part of Ragam'12 National level Cultural festival of NIT, Calicut.

2. Mr. Akhil P Kishore & team won Third place in group dance in Natya, cultural Fest organised by GEC, Sreekrishnapuram.
