Cisco CCIE

Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE®) is the highest level of technical networking certification offered by Cisco. The CCIE certification is accepted worldwide as the most prestigious networking certification in the industry. Network Engineers holding an active Cisco CCIE certification are recognized for their expert network engineering skills and mastery of Cisco products and solutions. The CCIE community has established a reputation of leading the networking industry in deep technical networking knowledge and are deployed into the most technically challenging network assignments.

The program continually updates and revises its testing tools and methodologies to ensure unparalleled program quality, relevance and value. Through a rigorous written exam and a performance based lab, the CCIE program sets the standard for internetworking expertise.

Cisco introduced the CCIE certification in 1993 to assist the industry in distinguishing the top echelon of internetworking experts worldwide. Today, CCIE certification holders represent less than 3% of all certified Cisco professionals and less than 1% of the networking professionals worldwide.

Requirements for Certification

There are no formal prerequisites for CCIE certification. Other professional certifications or training courses are not required. Instead, candidates must first pass a written qualification exam and then the corresponding hands-on lab exam. You are expected to have an in-depth understanding of the topics in the exam blueprints and strongly encouraged to have three to five years of job experience before attempting certification.

CCIE Certification Steps

1.CCIE Routing and Switching Written Exam #350-001, v4.0

You must pass the, written qualification exam which covers networking concepts and some equipment commands before you are eligible to schedule the lab exam. The CCIE R&S written exam is a two-hour qualification exam with 90-110 questions taken online at a Cisco authorized Pearson VUE testing center. The questions are a combination of multiple choice and more complex, interactive items that assess technical knowledge on topics such as IP, IP routing, bridging and switch-related technologies, and some equipment commands. The exam is closed book and no outside reference materials are allowed.

Vidya Academy of Science & Technology is an authorized Pearson VUE testing center. So this facility can be utilized by anyone to take CCIE written examination.

2. CCIE Routing and Switching Lab Exam

The CCIE lab exam is an eight-hour, hands-on exam which requires you to configure and troubleshoot a series of complex networks to given specifications. Knowledge of troubleshooting is an important skill and candidates are expected to diagnose and solve issues as part of the CCIE lab exam. You will not configure end-user systems, but are responsible for all devices residing in the network (hubs, etc.).

CCIE R&S lab exams are offered at the Cisco locations. In addition, Cisco has introduced Mobile CCIE Lab to provide access to the lab exam in regions without a Cisco CCIE lab location. In India Bangalore is the permanent site for the CCIE R&S Lab.

Course types and Duration.

As far as Vidya Academy of Science & Technology is concerned we can run three different course types for CCIE at a time.

1)Integrated CCIE Program:

This includes an integration of the courses such as CCNA, CCNP and then CCIE. Students who have a passion for the networking career will benefit most out of this program. They can start the career program from the basics of networking and groom up to the scopes of CCIE. Choosing this program also give considerable monetary advantages to students.

2)CCIE Program:

This program clearly follows the blueprint (Proposed Syllabus for CCIE by CISCO) of Cisco for CCIE. This program is recommended for those students who already have a good knowledge in networking concepts.

3)CCIE Crash Course:

The crash course is basically meant for two categories of students. One is a class of students who have already undergone the CCIE training from our institution or from any institution outside long back, who need to brush up their knowledge and appear for the exam. The other category includes those who are currently working in the same field and need an assistance to get through the exam as a part of their job requirement.
