1. Workshop on safety awareness
A one day work shop on safety awareness was conducted on 01.07.2016, by PE department. The workshop was meant for lab staff in all departments and also Engg. Staff. The resource person was Mr V. Satheesan, Retd. Safety Manager from M/s Apollo Tyres, Kalamassery. The workshop was held in two sessions from 09:30 AM to 04:00 PM. As per the feedback received, the workshop was highly useful to all the participants.
2. Inauguration of Production Engineering Association
The inauguration of Production Engineering Association activities for the academic year 2013-14 was held on 2, August 2013. Inaugural address was carried out by Er. G. Mohanachandran, (Executive Director, VICT). Dr. E.K. Jayanarayanan was the chief guest of the function. Prof. T.K.Rajendran (HoD, PE Dept) welcomed the gathering and Dr. Sudha Balagopalan (Principal) de-livered the presidential address. Dr. E.K. Jayanarayanan also delivered a talk on “Total Quality Management –an introductive approach”. As a part of Production Engineering Association events, paper presentation was done by the students from S3, S5 and S7. 
3. Orientation Program on Career guidance for higher education by M/s. MindPrints 
As part of the activities of the Production Engineering Association, the PE department conducted a half day orientation program on “Career Guidance for Higher Education” for 5th and 7th semester PE students on 5th September 2013 at PE Seminar Hall. Resource persons from M/s. MindPrints handled the sessions. The programme began with a welcome note by Prof. T.K. Rajendran, HOD PE and Mr. Paul Chakola, Placement Director, VAST, gave a brief introduction about the objectives and benefits of the programme. Dr. Sudha balagopalan, Principal, VAST, addressed the gathering and gave a key note address. Later, Mr. Ajay Nair, Co-Founder & VP, Sales & Business Development, MindPrints, addressed the students and gave them a brief presentation about their approach and offerings. The session laid emphasis on “Interpersonal Skills" and also projected the other offerings that could assist the students to sketch a successful career path.
