Ms Rebitha K R (Asst. Prof, CSE Dept) successfully participated in and completed the AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) Academy Faculty Development Program on Blockchain Governance Structures and Trust: From Theory to Practice hosted by Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi (Off Campus-Jaipur) during  23-28 December 2024.

Session Overview:

• Session:1(Day1):
  The first session focused on Blockchain Governance Models, highlighting how decision-making processes are structured within blockchain networks. 
• Session:2(Day1):
  This session explored Trust Mechanisms in Blockchain Networks, discussing how trust is established and maintained in decentralized systems. 
• Session:3(Day2):
  The session on On-Chain Governance highlighted how decisions are made through smart contracts and token-based voting. Examples like Tezos and Polkadot were used to demonstrate its transparency, automation, and efficiency. T
• Session:4(Day2):
  The session emphasized its role in networks like Bitcoin and Ethereum, pointing out the flexibility and challenges, such as lack of transparency and slow decision-making.
• Session:5(Day3):
  The Role of Consensus Mechanisms in Blockchain Governance was explored, with an emphasis on mechanisms like Proof of Work (PoW), Proof of Stake (PoS), and Delegated PoS. 
• Session:6(Day3):
  This session focused on Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs), explaining how they operate through smart contracts to enable transparent, automated, and community-driven decision-making. T
• Session:7(Day4):
  The Governance Challenges in Public and Private Blockchains were addressed, with an exploration of how public blockchains emphasize decentralization but face scalability and voter participation issues. 
• Session:8(Day4):
  This session covered the Legal and Regulatory Frameworks that influence blockchain governance. Topics included data privacy laws, compliance with financial regulations, and the impact of global regulations on blockchain operations. 
• Session:9(Day5):
  Smart Contracts in Blockchain Governance were discussed, highlighting how they enable automatic, trust less decision-making and governance rule enforcement without intermediaries. 
• Session:10(Day5):
  The Security and Trust in Blockchain Governance session emphasized the role of blockchain’s decentralized nature in ensuring transparency and reducing risks associated with central authority manipulation. 
• Session:11(Day6):
  Governance in Cross-Chain and Interoperable Blockchain Networks was explored, addressing the challenges and opportunities in managing governance across multiple independent blockchain networks. 
• Session:12(Day6):
  The Importance of Governance Transparency was emphasized, highlighting how transparent decision-making processes in blockchain governance enhance accountability and trust among participants. 
• Session:13(Day6):
  The final session explored the Future Directions in Blockchain Governance, discussing emerging trends such as Governance-as-a-Service, AI-driven decision-making, and new consensus mechanisms. 

Overall, the sessions were highly informative and engaging, providing valuable insights into blockchain governance, trust mechanisms, and their real-world applications.
