To devote ourselves to the cause of the expansion of his vision, Vidya paid tribute ‘Dr D Balakrishnan Day’ (DB Day) this year on 16 August 2023. with an array of activities. The event commenced with a reverent prayer,” Daivadasakam,” setting the tone for a solemn and auspicious gathering. Dr Justine Jose C, (HoD, CE Dept), welcomed all attendees with warmth and brevity. Mr K P R Vijayan (Author Trustee and EC Member,VICT), delivered the presidential address. In his insightful speech, he likely shared his wisdom and perspective on the occasion.This was followed by a brief address by the Principal Dr Saji C B . In his speech,he set the tone for the subsequent proceedings. He has highlighted the importance of the day and also congratulated the staff members who have been serving Vidya for more than 20 years, and thanked them for their dedicated service.

Following this, Dr Sunitha C (Vice Principal, HoD, AIML Dept) took the stage for a concise introduction of the esteemed Chief Guest. The highlight of the event was the inaugural address by the Chief Guest, Mr Narendra Deshpande (Chief Executive Officer, Construction Skill Development Council of India). Mr Narendra Deshpande provided insights on critical aspects of skill development and growth trajectory of the construction industry. He also emphasized the importance of skill oriented education that creates an opening for the stakegolders to realize concepts, by breaking them down and fostering an environment to develop.

A moment of reverence followed, with all distinguished guests paying floral tributes as a mark of respect and gratitude to Dr D Balakrishnan . The HoDs and student representatives also joined in the floral tributes. Mr K K Thilakan (EC Member, VICT) paid tributes, in memory of someone significant. Mr K K Thilakan briefed about the success of our institution and expressed his gratitude towards the founder academic director.The executive director, Mr Suresh Lal talked about the vision of late Dr D Balakrishan. He also appreciated the staff members who have completed 20 years of service with Vidya.

Er G Mohanachandran (Honorary Advisor & Non-Executive Director, VICT), Adv P N Unnirajan IPS (Retd.) (Director – Administration, VICT), Dr Sudha balagopalan (Dean academics) and Mr Manoj Chalakkal (President, PTA) too shared their thoughts and paid homage to late Dr D Balakrishnan. The Principal handed over a memento to the Chief Guest Mr Narendra Deshpande.

The event then took a turn to honor long-serving employees who completed 20 years. Their contributions were acknowledged, adding a sense of appreciation to the occasion. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Rakesh Hari (HoD, ME Dept), expressing gratitude and wrapping up the event within a concise timeframe. The event concluded on a patriotic note, with the National Anthem echoing through the venue.

After this function, the Chief Guest delivered the commemorative talk on ” The Construction Skill Ecosystem in the country” which was rich with content and insights.Dr Abhilasha P S (Asso Prof, CE Dept) gave feedback and extended thanks note to the resource person for enlightening the talk with his inspiring words of wisdom.

Dr Bhavin K Bharath (Asst Prof, ME Dept), Mr Sarathchandra Babu Ramachandran (Asst Prof, ME Dept), Mr Renjith R (Asst Prof, CE Dept) and Ms Anu Maria (Asst Prof, CE Dept) served as the co-ordinators of the event.
