25 Years of Inspiring Minds and Serving Communities (16–17 August 2025)  

Guided by the timeless wisdom of Sree Narayana Gurudevan — “Organize, Strengthen, Educate, and Spread the Light of Knowledge” — a group of philanthropic Non-Resident Indians, inspired by a deep sense of service to their motherland, founded Vidya International Charitable Trust (VICT) in 2000. From humble beginnings, the initiative flourished into a formidable movement with 1,180 trustees, as like-minded NRIs worldwide joined hands. United by a common mission, they offered generous support in the form of resources, skills, and connections.This year, the Vidya International Charitable Trust proudly celebrates a quarter century of service.  

Vidya International Charitable Trust (VICT) commemorated its Silver Jubilee with a magnificent two-day celebration held on 16 and 17 August 2025 at Vidya Academy of Science & Technology, Thrissur campus.This landmark occasion united trustees, patrons, eminent guests, faculty, students, alumni, and well-wishers in commemorating twenty-five years of unwavering dedication to academic excellence, social commitment, and community development.  

Grand celebration honoring 25 years of Vidya’s journey on 16 August 2025  

The proceedings began with a heartfelt prayer led by Mr. Ganga Chethikattil (Trustee, VICT), marking his remarkable 1,350th stage appearance and setting a dignified and inspiring tone for the day’s celebrations. Ms. Reena Devanand and her team gracefully performed the Guru Puja, offering a traditional tribute that added a touch of reverence and cultural depth to the occasion.In honour of the trustees who departed during the Trust’s 25-year journey, the gathering paused for a solemn moment of silent prayer, reflecting on their lasting contributions and cherished memories.  

Mr. Shaji P. P (Programme General Convener and Executive Committee Member, VICT) opened the gathering with a heartfelt welcome, setting an inspiring tone. He reaffirmed VICT’s dedication to selfless service and the spread of knowledge, outlining the distinctive strengths of its colleges—quality education, social commitment, and holistic student development. Mr. Suresh Gopi (Hon’ble Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas and Tourism, Government of India) was invited as the Chief Guest of the event. While he could not attend in person, his message was read out, marking his gracious participation.  

The ceremonial lamp lighting was performed by the dignitaries, marking the auspicious beginning of the event. Leading the ceremony was the Chief Guest, Mr. Muraleedharan K. (Author Trustee, Program Mukhya Rakshadhikari & Founder Chairman), along with Mr. Sabu Soumian (Chairman & Former Secretary), Mr. Ashokan P. K. (Author Trustee, Trust Chief Patron & Former Chairman), Mr. Sudhakaran Pollassery (Program Rakshadhikari & Former Chairman ) and Dr. Santosh Prasannan (Author Trustee, Program Rakshadhikari, Former Secretary & Former Chairman). Delivering the inaugural address, Mr. Muraleedharan highlighted the lasting importance of social commitment and remembered the initiatives undertaken to preserve and practice Gurudevan’s ideals for the betterment of society. Dr. Ajai Kumar V.S (Author Trustee & Former Secretary), Mr. Sukumaran K.G (Author Trustee & Former Executive Committee Member), Mr. Vijayan K.P.R (Author Trustee & Current Executive Committee Member), Dr Sudhakaran (Patron Trustee),Mr. Vijayan D.P (Author Trustee), Mr. Manu Reghurajan (Secretary), Mr. Gireesh Kumar Malattiri (Vice Chairman & Former Secretary),Mr. Giridas Divakaran (Joint Secretary / Executive Committee Member), Mr. Shaji P.P (Current Executive Committee Member & Program General Convener), Er. G Mohanachandran (Honorary advisor & Former Executive Director) and Mr. Suresh Lal ( Executive Director) also graced the occasion with their presence on stage.  

A tribute to resilience and vision  

The event featured a telecast of a 10-minute video titled “25 Years of Light”, highlighting the remarkable journey and achievements of the past 25 years. This was followed by a inspirational presidential address by Mr. Sabu Soumian (Chairman & Former Secretary) , reflecting on the Trust’s rich legacy and envisioning its path forward into the future.In his presidential address, Mr. Sabu Soumian remarked that the Trust today stands strong with over 1,180 dedicated members, all united in their unwavering mission to transform lives through quality education.With a sense of pride, Mr. Sabu noted that each member of the Trust works with dedication toward the shared vision of transforming lives through the gift of quality education. He also spoke about the various struggles and challenges that had been faced along the way, acknowledging the perseverance and collective effort that enabled the Trust to overcome them and achieve its present stature.  

Vidya Charithram: Celebrating VICT’s legacy and trustees’ cherished memories  

The commemorative volume Vidya Charithram, chronicling the inspiring 25-year journey of VICT, was ceremoniously released by Mr. Sabu Soumian (Chairman) and and Mr. Ashokan P. K., who handed over the first copy in the august presence of dignitaries, authors and  trustees. In the absence of Mr. Venu V. S. (Editor, Vidya Charithram), a note of appreciation was shared on his behalf. During his address, Mr. Ashokan P. K spoke with deep conviction about the vision and mission of Vidya. He emphasized that all resources of the institution are dedicated to education and social development, ensuring that every endeavor ultimately benefits society. Reflecting on the long journey of Vidya, he remarked that “Vidya Charithram cannot be limited to a few pages”, as it embodies countless selfless efforts and milestones.   

Messages of goodwill were received from Mr Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, (Hon’ble Governor of Kerala),  Mr Pinarayi Vijayan (Hon’ble Chief Minister of Kerala) and Sri Sachidananda Swamikal, (President of Sivagiri Mutt, Varkala) extending their blessings and best wishes for the occasion Vidya Charithram stands as a testament to the VICT’s vision, milestones, and enduring commitment to education and social responsibility. It serves as a tribute to the institution’s vision, achievements, and unwavering dedication symbolizes the spirit of Vidya, celebrating its vision, growth, and enduring contributions to education and society. Vidya Charithram also  enriched with writings from trustees, capturing their cherished association with VICT over the years    

As a mark of respect and recognition, a special slideshow and AV presentation was arranged, featuring brief profiles of the honorees to introduce them to the audience. The segment honoured Author Trustees , Former Chairmen,Honorary Advisors, and members of both the Former Executive Committee and Current Executive Committee

Following the presentation, selected dignitaries were invited to share their reflections in speeches. Mr Sudhakaran Polassery (Program Rakshadhikari & Former Chairman) and Dr Santosh Prasannan (Founder  Secretary and Former Chairman). They recounted their unique paths and inspiring journeys with VICT, reflecting on the challenges overcome and the milestones achieved along the way.  

An interactive session, including a lively question and answer and the sharing of cherished memories, was followed by a special tribute to 167 senior trustees aged over 75 years. A heartfelt slideshow showcasing photographs and details of the honorees added to the moment’s significance.  

Vidya International Charitable Trust has made a significant impact over its 25 years of service, operating with complete selflessness as its trustees and office bearers dedicate all resources to education and social development for the betterment of society.
