1. Vidya Organic Bazar and Integrated Farming
Vidya Organic Bazar
The Vidya Organic Bazar highlights significant trends and developments in organic and natural products. Vidya Organic Bazar has been expanding its range of offerings to cater to the growing demand for organic products among health-conscious consumers. The store's inventory includes a variety of organic vegetables & Fruits such as Brinjal, Ladies Finger, Beans, Cucumber, Cauliflower, Cabbage, Green chilli, Tapioca, Spinach, Mango, Jackfruit, Guava and Banana. One key area of growth is the increased consumer preference for organic foods, driven by a desire for healthier lifestyles and concerns over chemical residues in conventionally grown produce. The market for organic products is expected to continue expanding as more consumers become aware of the benefits of organic farming for health and the environment.
The NSS (National Service Scheme) students of Vidya, along with other students, have planned to organize and continue a special initiative for the staff and students. The Organic bazar is held on the last Friday of each month, operating during a specific time frame from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. Vidya Organic Bazar's strategy also involves enhancing student engagement through educational initiatives. They promote the health benefits of organic food and sustainable practices, aligning with the broader global trend towards sustainability and environmental responsibility. Overall, Vidya Organic Bazar plays a crucial role in enhancing the economic, social, and cultural fabric of communities, providing benefits that extend beyond mere commercial transactions.
Integrated Farming
The institution also started an ‘Integrated farming system’ within the campus in the year 2020, utilizing available land and resources effectively. This includes cultivating a variety of crops using organic farming practices, raising livestock for dairy and poultry products, and to enhance biodiversity and soil fertility. The integrated animal farm includes hens, rabbit and fish. The chickens can help control pests by eating insects, while their droppings provide fertilizer for crop. Meanwhile, the goats may help control weeds and brush by grazing on vegetation that other animals won't eat. For integrated farming the unwanted space of the college were used. We use the waste water for watering the plants hence the idea of reuse is developed. We use the waste of rabbits as a fertilizer for the plans. We even sell the rabbits and eggs so by this while studying itself the students can get a small earning. By spending some time in the integrated farming, the students got a bonding with the animals and developed an interest towards farming.
