MoU between CED, VAST and PIE Builders and Developers

The civil engineering department aims to establish a strategic partnership that fosters academic-industry collaboration. With an aim to establish collaborative framework aimed at enhancing site exposure of civil engineering students.

The report outlines the details of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Vidya Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), Thrissur and PIE Builders and Developers.

Enhancing site exposure for civil engineering students is crucial for bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications. The key objectives include:

1. Practical Application of Theory – Reinforce classroom learning by providing real-world construction site experiences.
2. Hands-on Training – Develop technical skills through direct involvement in surveying, material testing, structural analysis, and site management.
3. Understanding Construction Processes – Gain insights into project execution, from planning and design to construction and maintenance.
4. Safety Awareness – Educate students on occupational hazards, safety protocols, and risk management strategies.
5. Familiarity with Equipment & Tools – Expose students to construction machinery, tools, and modern engineering technologies.
6. Project Management Skills – Develop decision-making, problem-solving, and leadership abilities through site exposure.
7. Industry Interaction – Enhance networking opportunities with professionals, contractors, and engineers to understand industry expectations.
8. Regulatory & Ethical Understanding – Learn about construction codes, environmental considerations, and ethical responsibilities in engineering.
9. Soft Skills Development – Improve communication, teamwork, and adaptability in a professional environment.

The MoU was signed by Dr Sunitha C (Principal) and Mr AthulKrishna V K (Managing Diector Director, Pie Builders and Developers, Korechal,Thrissur) on 13 March 2025 . Dr Abhilasha P S  (Professor & HoD, CE Dept) led this initiative.
