A milestone like Vidya’s successful completion of 20 years (2003-2023) of service in line with its vision “Progress Through Education” inspires the institution towards its future course of actions for accomplishing set targets that are growth oriented and sustainable.

Vidya marked this auspicious occasion with a range of activities starting with the inaugural function of ‘Vicennial Celebrations’ organized at the college auditorium on 26 June 2023 (Monday).Vidya’s “Growth Oriented Strategic Framework” was launched on the occasion,focusing on rising Vidya as a Centre of brilliance for Technical Education.

The Vicennial Celebrations of Vidya was formally inaugurated by Dr B Ashok IAS (Principal Secretary & Agriculture Production Commissioner-Agriculture Development and Farmer’s Welfare Department,Govt. of Kerala, and the Vice Chancellor in Charge-Kerala Agricultural University).

The inaugural function started with the prayer by Mr Gangadharan Chethikattil (Trust Member, VICT).The prayer was followed by a mesmerizing dance performance ‘Rangapooja’ by Vidya students.The Rangapooja was choreographed by Mr Anand E T (Trade Instructor, ECE Dept).

In his inaugural speech, Dr Ashok spoke about the importance of giving academic autonomy to technical higher education institutions in our country. He eloquently addressed the challenges involved in fostering excellence within universities.Dr Ashok emphasized the remarkable strides made by India’s higher education system since independence and spoke about the fast advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and allied domains, highlighting the superior computing capabilities compared to that of human mind. He stressed that AI, along with deep learning and natural language processing, are set to become prominent fields in the future.He has also highlighted the need for Indian education institutions to embrace these emerging technologies, and formulate strategic plans that prioritize academic flexibility.

Dr Saji C B (Principal) welcomed the gathering. Mr Sabu Soumian (Chairman,VICT) presided over the function. The Chairman, during his presidential address, pointed out the contributions of the founders,Trustees and all stakeholders of the Trust that helped in shaping Vidya as a socially responsible institution. He also spoke about VICT’s commitment towards giving back to the society through its various initiatives.

Mr Suresh Lal (Executive Director, VICT) presented the ” Growth Oriented Strategic Framework” and explained the Goals and strategies and action plans for accomplishing set targets. He appreciated the contributions from the members of Vidya family in bringing up Vidya as one among the most reputed institution for higher education in the State.Thereafter, the formal launch of Vidya’s ‘Growth Oriented Strategic Framework’- which envisages special focus on developing Vidya as a center of excellence in technical education- was done by Dr B Ashok.

Er P K Asokan (Chief Patron, VICT) spoke about the 20-year long journey of Vidya. The Chief Patron narrated Vidya’s two decades of journey and acknowledged the selfless contributions of individuals that helped the institution to overcome many hurdles faced and grow to the current position of repute.  A video screening also was presented during the occasion, showcasing Vidya’s accomplishments and milestones during this period.  

Er Manu Raghurajan (Secretary,VICT), Dr Santosh Prasannan (Former Chairman, VICT),Mr Sudhakaran Polassery (Former Chairman,VICT), Mr Girish Kumar M (Vice chairman, VICT), Mr Shaji T G (Treasurer,VICT), Mr A P Sadanandan (VICT General Co-ordinator),Mr C R Unnikrishnan (Central Kerala Regional Co-ordinator ,VICT), Er G Mohanachandran (Non-Execitive Director and Honorary Advisor,VICT), Dr Sunitha C (HoD, AIML Dept), Mr Manoj Chalakal (PTA president),Mr Jeswin Saju (Alumni, 2008-11 Batch, MCA) and Mr Jeeva H M (Student, S6, ECE Dept) also graced the function with their presence and felicitations.Adv.P N Unnirajan IPS (Retd) (Director – Administration, VICT and the Programme Convenor) proposed vote of thanks.

Many projects by Vidya students were exhibited during the function and the visitors well appreciated the quality and social relevance of the projects exhibited. The event was attended by senior functionaries of VICT and a host of distinguished personalities including Vidya’s staff members, alumni and students.
